radio

The immediacy and magic of radio is hard to dispute. In the 1920s and 1930s, families gathered around the radio to be informed and entertained with live broadcasts. News about World War II was carried home by radio. In the 1950s, rock 'n' roll music became a national phenomenon largely because of the radio. Today, radios are everywhere - homes, cars, businesses and even worn on our persons. They are often the first source of news, talk call-in shows, and music. Radio stations have flocked to the Web, establishing sites which not only tell about the stations' formats, but also delivering news, programs, music, and even video digitally across the Internet. You no longer have to be within a station's broadcast pattern to hear a show in progress. With the Internet, radio is no longer ephemeral.
