Ever since Johannes Gutenberg invented movable type in the mid-1400s, books have been the primary vehicle for disseminating information, entertainment, enlightenment and learning. The Internet revolution promises the ability for everyone to easily and cheaply publish whatever they want electronically. But demand for the printed word remains strong and the Web has not escaped the attention of both booksellers who now market their wares from elaborate 'net sites and critics who review the latest books online. Also, be sure to follow the links to classic books which are now available to be read in their entirety on the Internet.
