A note from the authors:
This book was written to be the primary text for courses in interpersonal communication. We’ve written this book for college and university students of all ages who are seeking research–based principles and skills to enhance their interpersonal relationships. We emphasize research–based because this is not merely a book of “how to” techniques to win friends and influence people. Our ideas are based on decades of communication research and reflect the latest thinking about how human beings relate to each other. Our balance of principles and skills is designed to help students enhance their own communication skills, as well as to give them insights into why people communicate as they do in interpersonal situations.
