Frequently Asked Questions

Show all
ExpandWhat are the hardware requirements to run Pearson eText?

You require an Internet connection and the latest Flash Player to use Pearson eText in your browser. You can also use the Pearson eText app on your iPad or Android tablet, which requires iOS 5.0, or Honeycomb v3.1 or higher. Title subscription must be done outside of the app.

ExpandHow much bandwidth does it take? Will it run efficiently in a computer lab with 30 students?

eText runs like a web page, so there should be no performance issues with 30 students using eText at the same time. Each book has its own unique username and password, so only one user is on a given book at a time.

ExpandCan it work on dial-up?

Yes it will work, but will be slow to load just like most other web pages on dial up.

ExpandCan it be used with personal student smartphones and iPod touch specifically?

At the moment, Pearson eText will work on the iPad and the Android tablet, via the Pearson eText app. Pearson eText will not work on smartphones (or iPod touch) yet.

ExpandHow do I get the Pearson eText app?

You can download the free Pearson eText app from the Apple App Store or the Android Marketplace. It requires a minimum of iOS 5.0 or Honeycomb v3.1 and a valid Pearson eText username and password. You will need to register your Pearson eText online before accessing it on your iPad.

ExpandDoes it have embedded email teacher to student and student to student?

No, there is no embedded email program.

ExpandCan students work collaboratively in Pearson eText?

No. There is just one login name and password for each book, and only one student can use it at a time.

ExpandCan you cut and paste the content in Pearson eText into other programs like Word?

No, you cannot.

ExpandWhat happens when a login expires?

When an account expires, the student or teacher will no longer have access to Pearson eText. A user will need to renew the account with a new access code before the existing account expires.

ExpandWhat happens to the login if a teacher changes schools?

The login information stays with the book, whether the teacher leaves the book behind or takes it to the new school.

ExpandI'm a teacher. Can I track what my students are doing on Pearson eText such as time on, content accessed, etc.?

We do not have any way of tracking and reporting usage nor can we report on which students are logging in.

ExpandWill Pearson eText work with any text reader software? Which ones?

We are not familiar with the functionality of all text readers. If your text reader will work with Flash-based web pages, then there should be no issues.
