What is MathXL for School?

MathXL for School is an online homework and tutorial system that assesses what a student has mastered and then develops a personalized study plan to focus on areas still needing attention.

Student Access

Each student's Study Plan is pre-populated with questions that mirror the exercises from myWorkText.
Since questions are generated algorithmically, a student who wants more practice with a question can request variations of the same item, with different numbers each time.
When problems arise, Help Me Solve This offers step-by-step questions that guide a student to the correct answer, with feedback for both incorrect and correct responses along the way. Alternatively, students can View an Example to walk through the steps of a completed solution.
The Interactive Web Book, complete with all animations and dynamic activities, can be accessed directly from any question in the Study Plan.
Students can try the two Sample Tests for each chapter, which are provided as part of the MathXL package, to help them determine which topics they have mastered so that they can focus their study.

Teacher Access

Teachers can direct students to use the Study Plan and Sample Tests that are built into MathXL, or, use the Study Plan Manager to customize the Study Plan for the specific needs of a class.
The Homework & Test Manager enables teachers to create and assign homework, quizzes, and tests.
The Gradebook feature tracks performance for each student so that teachers can review a student's results, monitor his or her Study Plan, and even post a comment to an individual student.

What is the Interactive Web Book?

The Interactive Web Book is a digital version of the Student Edition in an easy-to-navigate Flash format. You can use the links in the table of contents to jump to a specific unit or lesson.

The Web Book is enhanced with animations that illustrate key concepts and dynamic activities that allow students to explore the concepts. To access these applets, you will need the Flash Player 10 (or higher) browser plugin.
