  • What does it cost to raise a child?
  • What are the tax breaks for parents?
  • How can we raise money-smart kids?
  • How can we best save for our children's education?

These are some of the many questions answered in this well-researched guide to family financial planning—a guide for which 50 parents provided input.

Inside are tips on setting financial goals and devising a game plan that will allow you to achieve these goals. As well, there are the nitty-gritty details on RESPs, RRSPs, managing credit, paying off debts, buying a house, buying a car, and buying life insurance. The "Money Talk" sections are reader friendly, the "Facts and Figures" highlight interesting statistics, and "The Bottom Line" presents case studies of families who made smart financial decisions. First-person anecdotes offer practical advice from parents in dual- and single-income families.

Family Finance: The Essential Guide for Canadian Parents also includes a unique financial planning calendar, financial worksheets, a directory of financial planning resources and organizations, and the hottest Internet sites for parents.
