Four value-packed multimedia units for high school students exploring Canada and Canadians in the 20th-century. From The CRB Foundation, producers of the Heritage Project and the popular Heritage Minutes.
Fieldtested across Canada by over 1700 students, this series provides comprehensive coverage of the issues of war, peace and security; international development; the environment; and Canadian identity.
"The units appealed to my students. The materials are broad in scope, inclusive in cultural representation, and the participation level in the class was a full 100%."

Contents:
- 38 war biographies
- 38 war information broadsheets

Sustaining our Environment
In this simulation, students examine Canada's environmental track record based on six themes with the goal of generating a "report card."
- Canada has been nominated for the prestigious "Earthkeeper" award, which goes to leaders in sustaining the global environment.
- Students take on the role of various government and non-government interest groups to assess Canada's eligibility.
- Students analyze contemporary documentation on these six themes - heritage sites, fresh water, air quality, waste management, fragile spaces and agriculture.
- The representative groups present their views to a panel of officials who make recommendations as to whether Canada should or should not receive the award.
Contents:
- 6 full-colour booklets on the environmental themes (multiple copies)
- 1 CD-ROM, "Conserving Canada's Natural Legacy," produced by Environment Canada
- 1 video containing four Heritage Minutes and a custom video about Canada's environmental track record

Decisions for Development
This unit increases students' awareness of global development issues by presenting information on Canadian contributions to the global neighbourhood.
- In a simulation, student groups are challenged to spend a hypothetical $1000 aid budget in a way they feel is most effective and appropriate.
- Groups are confronted with an array of viewpoints and advertising information designed to influence their spending in the four topic areas of medical, educational and developmental aid, and aid to refugees and human rights organizations.
- This simulation facilitates discussion about broader development policies being developed by government and industry.
- Students are encouraged to become involved in a local or global volunteer agency, and to document their experiences.
Contents:
- 6 full-colour booklets on the environmental themes (multiple copies)
- 1 CD-ROM, "Conserving Canada's Natural Legacy," produced by Environment Canada
- 1 video containing four Heritage Minutes and a custom video about Canada's environmental track record
