Here's what one student had to say:

In my experience with myITlab, I noticed tremendous efficiency with the ability to submit assignments and also work through tutorials from a remote location. Additionally, I found it very helpful for the program to offer the assistance of the "show me" and "hint" buttons so that in an instance of confusion or uncertainty, there was always way to get through the task without contacting the instructor for guidance.

Incidentally, I went on to write the Microsoft Certification Exam after using the MCAS practice activities in myITlab. These exercises were quite useful in helping me succeed in attaining the 3rd highest mark in Office Excel 2007© in all of Canada for the 2010 competition (www.officecompetition.ca).

As a peer tutor at my school, I have noticed that some of my tutees have had some difficulty with understanding the process of the training software; however, I believe this can be due to the lack of experience with software basics and fundamentals, and that this problem can be easily overcome with additional practice and training. I view myITlab to be an excellent learning resource, and would recommend it to any of my friends and family wishing to sharpen their software application skills.

Here's what faculty using myitlab have to say:

In September 2010 we conducted a survey of myitlab users. The feedback is clear myitlab meets the needs of faculty and students better than any other option available.

myitlab: the #1 online training, assessment, and project-grading tool for Office Applications and Computer Concepts

How well does myitlab replicate the experience of using MSOffice 2007 applications?
“Very well. The myitlab simulation looks so real that students sometimes believe they can do their own work with it.”
“Very well--most options are available.”
“Very Successfully.”
“Excellent. Students love it.”
“Excellent replication”
“Excellent, just little tedious, as it doesn't recognize all the ways you can access commands in the real Office”
How important is it to you that your simulation allows you to view your students' exact submission with the click stream of each step they took? Have you had experiences with students contesting a mark that you have been able to resolve by reviewing their exact submission?
“Being able to view the click stream is important. It provides a step by step process of the student's reasoning or random selection.”
“I think it can be important as I have a had few experiences with students contesting marks and the ability to review is important”
“Very important. Students are usually convinced that they did the right set of steps until we go through the click stream. At this point they would say hmmm...OK!”
“It is extremely important, and yes, I have had many students try to contest their marks. However, after showing them what I see, they agree they either did or did not do what was supposed to be completed.”
“Yes, it is important. Yes I did have cases when I had to check students' submission to see if everything happened as they stated.”
Please comment on your overall experience using myitlab
“I have been extremely pleased with the continuous development and success in bringing MyItLaB to our students”
“MyITLab is a great tool.”
“Great, I love the myitlab”
“After looking at competitor products, this is by far superior.”
“have been using MyItLab for two years and never had a student contesting a test submission. There were technical issue with a click and drag question. Otherwise no problem.”
“Excellent, the learning curve is there but after the initial training, it has been great for myself and the students”
“Overall very happy. The transition from the other supplier was quite seamless.”
“Overall experience has been good.”
“It has been very positive, especially not having to make up tests and be plagued by marking. It helps to retard ocular degeneration, or at least I think so. Tired eyes do not make for a positive learning experience.”
Please comment on the feedback that you have received from students on myitlab
“The students love it. They can do the Skill Based Training at their own convenience.”
“Students like it very much”
“Overall consensus is that MyITLab does help them to learn.”
“For novice students very favourable since they are able to focus on there skills and develop them. With some students they tend to gloss over the material and complete the assessment component before they have completed the instruction material.”
“We used to get many negative comments when using Sam, I haven't received a negative comment so far. The program is well laid out, user friendly, and very realistic.”
“We have had our students complete surveys set up by Pearson….Results were more positive than expected.”
“Students have a love-hate relationship with it. I have them do the online training as before-class preparation. They definitely arrive better prepared.”
“As I said earlier, students do complain that myitlab doesn't recognize all the ways you can access commands in the real Office”
If you have used a different online simulation, please comment on why you selected myitlab and how you feel the two compare.
“SAM was a total failure in its upgraded version.”
“MyItLab never crashed the other did (SAM) There is no tricky question. The report and export are great”
“Pearson is way ahead of SAM simulations.”

“I generally like Pearson's service and selection of textbooks. Pearson is typically the first publisher I turn to for book availability.”
